Why I stopped oversharing my life on social media – and what changed when I did.

April 8, 2026

As a woman who spent many years oversharing my life on social media, especially during my season within the online coaching space, sharing my life, was an everyday ‘normal’.

It wasn’t until I started going through a profound transformation in my life that I first felt the nudge to pull away from sharing online.

The desire to no longer continue sharing in this way, was because I’d discovered that the world has…

Confused vulnerability with oversharing and the soul is crying out for intimacy.

As women we have this beautiful tenderness for our hearts and souls to be sensitive to the world around us.

The pressure that often comes with having to turn every day moments into content and believing that allowing strangers eyes to wander into our lives and homes as a business strategy, can be the subtle yet very real door that opens us to experience worry, anxiety and fear.

There is power in privacy and our souls thrive within a quiet life.

At our core we desire to live and feel safe and there’s many ways that the world normalises behaviour that goes against the essence of our nature.

We crave intimacy with our hearts, home and life itself.

There is a desire for the most intimate details of our homes, relationships and mundane moments to be kept sacred and out of sight from the eyes of the world.

We’ve been made to believe that because we live in a culture where oversharing the in’s and out’s of our lives is normalised that there’s no consequence.

However in our spirit we deeply crave privacy and safety.

Let this be the turning point to return home to your innate knowing within my love.

5 practical steps I took to step away from sharing online that resulted with a new found inner peace…

  • Installed the app ‘ one sec’ on my phone to implement firmer boundaries around how much time I was spending on social media (honestly it was a rude shock!)

Hello joy and productivity! With the extra time that I uncovered from less phone time I began to use these moments for the things that I loved. Cooking, reading (sometimes 3 books at once haha!)

  • Increased my daily step count which meant – less screen time. I truly believe we were given the exact number of hours we need in one day and it’s up to us to utilise our time as best we can.

  • Unsubscribed and detoxed from watching strangers and influencers on the internet. This was harder than I would like to admit! The continual comparison day in and day out began to diminish and I fell deeper in love with my own life. Hallelujah! And finally deactivating instagram, and I’ve never looked back.

  • Instead of believing that I knew how people were in my life from an assumption of what they were sharing online, I began to pour more time and energy into spending time with people in the flesh. Building friendships. Getting involved within community and serving.

  • Upon meeting new people, instead of asking for their social profiles as a way to connect and talk, I’d ask for their phone number and set the foundation of the friendship away from the online space.

May this be the turning point where you return home to a deeper connection with the mundane moments, God and the sacredness of life itself.

Big love
