Slow winter mornings. Self idolisation & Flannelette sheets.

June 22, 2026

I woke up this morning having slept in brand new flannelette sheets last night.

I’m normally a ‘no top sheet’ kinda woman, but there’s something incredibly soothing about an extra layer in winter.

Wrapped up like a baby burrito for the night.

It’s day 28 of my cycle, so naturally I’m in hibernation mode.

I’m sipping my second cup of twinings decaf English breakfast tea – with a dash of honey.

A batch of sweet potato is roasting in the oven and I don’t intend to change out of my pjs any time soon.

As I was pottering around the kitchen I began thinking about sheiswisdom.

How when I first began this blog I never intended to write about Him.

To be honest, I was very adamant that I wouldn’t share about Him at all, but how can I not.

It’s been over 18 months now since my encounter with the Holy Spirit, while reading the book of John.

(If you’ve never read God’s word and you’re curious like I was, this is where I’d start!)

The pressing to talk about Him in my spirit is now a visceral sensation that feels as though my heart is becoming too big for my rib cage.

As if the bones will slowly start to break the bigger my heart expands with my love for Him.

When my life was submerged within the new age spirituality and alternative healing world, I jumped from one thing to the next.

The latest healing modality, the famous instagram coach, another personal development course.

Perhaps, what may have been perceived from the outside world as ‘another craze’, has turned into the greatest love story of all time.

He continues to change my heart in more ways than I can count.

And not from anything that I’ve done.

I’m still learning to embrace that transformation.

Because so much of my life depended upon me and me alone.

It’s a dangerous place to be, spiritually.

To live with the belief that If ‘I’ weren’t the one holding it all together then who would?

Self idolisation means we’ve become the centre of our lives (instead of God)

And we were never created to live this way.

The more focused I was on myself, the more self reliant I became.

The more self-reliant I became the less I trusted in God.

Proverbs 3:5-6

‘Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight’

Coming from a world where everything was about the self – self love, self care – and believing that I knew what was best for me, it truly was a new concept to grasp.

Yet as I surrendered to Him and began to depend on Him more than myself,

He’s produced a life far more abundant than I could have ever conjured myself.

And that is my prayer for you, my love.

That you would come to not only know His love for you, but to live a life which is focused on Him, which will produce a satisfaction that you will never have to work for.

Big love
